Procedures – Injectible Fillers

Various filler substances may be injected into the lips, deep creases or folds of the face, to create a fuller or more youthful appearance. Dr. Alsarraf prefers the use of the newer FDA-approved substances such as Restylane or Cymetra, rather than the older, bovine collagen, because no skin testing is required as it is not associated with allergic reactions. The injectible fillers last less than six months in most patients, but can be repeated indefinitely. Other options for lip or facial augmentation include the use of Alloderm or a Gortex implant, if a more permanent result is desired.

Restylane or Cymetra injections take only a few minutes to perform in the office setting. Topical anesthesia with a local anesthetic block is often employed for patient comfort.
